The Clean Room in Lab B of the S&T centre was sponsored by ESCO® Micro when the centre was first set up. This year,
ESCO® has kindly agreed to sponsor the maintenance of the room to ensure that the equipment and the air quality of the
room remain up to standard. We would like toexpress our gratitude to ESCO® for their generosity and invite schools who
are interested in using the clean room for research projects involving tissue culture or bacteria culture to contact the centre.
Before a student can be admitted into the clean-room, he must be cleansed in the air-shower pass box. This process will prevent the unnecessary introduction of dust particles and cellular debris while working in the clean room.
The laminar flow provides a sterile environment for tissue culture work to be made possible. It also provides a safety environment for students when dealing with microbiological work.
This is the humidified CO2 incubator which allows the incubation of cells. In this picture, student is seen removing cultured cells from the incubator with gloved hands.
A growth rack is installed with white light which can be used for the growth of explants during micropropagation of plants.
