After a hectic but happy Term 1, Victorians came out to play on Games Day! The PE Department and Students’ Council organised a series of activities, including an Outdoor Rumble, Indoor Games and House Meetings, to create opportunities for Victorians to have fun and bond with their peers. Vintage Victorian camaraderie was on full display during telematches, sports friendlies, station games and house pow-wows. Onward to Term 2!

On 16 Feb 2022, over 400 parents of our JC1 students attended a webinar to better understand the academic and co-curricular programmes of VJC. Our Principal, Mr Jeffrey Low, shared the college’s vision, mission and values, before handing the time over to key personnel to elaborate on key programmes and address parents’ queries and concerns. VJC values our partnership with parents and hopes to collaborate closely with them to make Victoria truly something more!

JC1 Total Defence Day Dialogue

Each year, VJC commemorates Total Defence Day through student engagement dialogues. On 16 Feb 2022, we were honoured to have our alumnus BG Tan Tiong Keat, commander of 2nd People’s Defence Force, share with our JC1 cohort his insights about the geopolitical aspects of defence that is relevant to Singapore as a small city state, as well as speak about the role of our military in protecting Singapore’s air and sea space. To the brave men and women of the SAF, VJC salutes you!

On 11 Feb 2022, VJC welcomed back our distinguished alumna, Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for the Ministry of Education & Ministry of Manpower, for the JC2 Total Defence Day Dialogue. MOS Gan shared with Victorians her insights about how international developments can affect Singapore, and spoke about how keeping our economy resilient and improving employability of the local workforce can contribute to Total Defence. The session was enlightening and MOS Gan inspired us with how she made personal breakthroughs and defied expectations in the course of her illustrious career. VJC welcomed our newest members on 7 Feb 2022! Led by enthusiastic Orientation Group Leaders, the JC1s learnt more about our academic and co-curricular programmes, bonded through games and play quests, learnt the moves of our signature mass dances (a rite of passage for any Victorian) and soaked in the atmosphere on finale night! Once again, our campus was lit up with glittering fairy lights, which symbolised the start of a magical journey!

Chinese New Year Celebrations

27 January 2022

Victorians ushered in The Year of the Tiger with gusto and style! Art Club decked our campus in festive colours in the lead up to the big day. On 27 & 28 Jan 2022, the Chinese Society set up activity booths at the concourse to teach Victorians how to write auspicious couplets and craft adorable hairbands. Interact Club and Project Victus (a VJ Cares initiative) also organised a Food Drive to collect food donations for the beneficiaries of Food Bank Singapore. On 31 Jan, Victorians were treated to a spectacular showcase of talent by Chinese Orchestra, Choir, Dance Club, Indian Cultural Society, Malay Cultural Society and Wushu! It was a roaring start to a wonderful new year!

e-Open House: Vividly Victoria

13 January 2022

On 13 & 14 Jan 2022, we showcased the vibrancy of our college life through our e-Open House. While the ongoing pandemic meant that we still could not welcome prospective students and parents to visit our campus in-person, that did not dampen our spirits or cramp our style! Various student bodies such as the Students’ Council, Robotics-Makers Club, Studio V, Photography Society and FACEs (student ambassadors) pulled out all stops to curate a vivid virtual experience for all who visited our e-Open House microsite and attended our webinars. Outdoor Activities Club also helped to transform the façade of our campus, putting up a stunning light display for those who strolled or drove along Marine Parade Road at night!

Connecting Leaders in Camp (CLIC)

06 December 2021

Our student leaders went through a 3-day leadership camp in early December where they engaged in activities ranging from laser tag and archery tag, to townhall sessions with our School Leaders. The camp provided a platform for our student leaders to network, exchange ideas and share their personal aspirations. All of these are integral as they work towards galvanising the college community towards excellence. We are definitely excited to see our student leaders lead and serve the community next year!

Victorian Affair

25 November 2021

On 25 Nov 2021, the year ended with a bang for the JC1 cohort, after a gruelling but exhilarating year. Victorian Affair kicked off in Term 4 Week 10, with Community Affair, a community engagement campaign to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the deaf during the pandemic. Bonding Affair followed, with a series of class-based games and inter-class competitions. Finally, Lasting Affair showcased the talent and creativity of students and alumni, whose pre-recorded song and dance items captivated the hearts of all. Victoria is indeed something more! VJ Boleh!
