Admissions

VJC offers a two-year programme leading to the GCE A-Level examinations. The programme is open to students who have just completed their GCE O-Level examinations or Secondary 4 equivalent.

Our students come from more than 50 secondary schools all over the island. In fact, more than 60% of our intake comes from the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE), ensuring a rich cultural and social diversity.

Joint Admissions Exercise

The Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) to junior colleges is conducted by the Ministry of Education. Secondary 4 students will receive an instruction booklet from their secondary schools, with detailed instructions on how to apply. They can apply through the internet or personally at any junior college during the stipulated registration period.

The Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) is scheduled to be conducted in January each year.

JAE Appeals for 2020 have closed.

VJC’s educational journey to academic excellence took a historic turn in 2011 with the announcement of the Victoria-Cedar Alliance Integrated Programme (VCA IP). Students who are part of this programme will spend their first four years either in Victoria School or Cedar Girls’ Secondary School, and the final two years in VJC. At the end of the six-year programme, VCA IP students sit for the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level Examination administered by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).

The Victoria-Cedar Alliance Integrated Programme seeks to develop students into social innovators  who challenge processes and produce innovative solutions for a better community, and passionate learners who seek and create new knowledge.  This is a programme that stretches students’ potential, demands their full participation and develops their personal voice and identity. Since its launch in 2012, the VCA IP has drawn on the outstanding academic track records of Victoria School and Cedar Girls’ Secondary School, as well as the experience and vibrancy of Victoria Junior College, to develop young men and women equipped and excited to serve society.

We warmly welcome you to embark on this exciting 6-year journey with us. Click here to view the VCA IP Handbook and find out more about the people and programmes that make the Victoria-Cedar experience one to remember for a lifetime.

International Students

International students seeking admission are to apply directly to the college from October to December. Interested students should send in their cover letter and relevant education certificates to victoria_jc@moe.edu.sg

Students are strongly encouraged to submit JPACT results for the college's consideration. If found suitable, the student will undergo an interview process and may be required to take school-based placement tests.

Admission is not guaranteed, and is subject to the international students meeting the college’s admission criteria and availability of vacancies.

More information can be found on the MOE Admissions website.

Returning Singaporeans

Returning Singaporeans who have done the School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans (SPERS-JC/MI) test and have Victoria Junior College on their results list may approach us for admission application.

About SPERS-JC/MI

Returning Singaporeans are advised to participate in the SPERS-JC/MI which is a centralised placement exercise conducted in November each year for Returning Singaporeans who wish to join the Pre-University 1 level at the beginning of the next academic year.

As admission to JC/MI is merit-based, Returning Singaporeans who wish to participate in SPERS-JC/MI will be required to sit for SPERS-JC/MI tests comprising English, Mathematics and General Ability tests. Based on their performance in the SPERS-JC/MI tests, successful applicants will be provided with a list of JC/MI where students with similar abilities are already studying. Applicants may then approach any of the JC/MI on their lists to apply for admission.
